In the beginning there were and are the Plumbs. The Plumbs are a family based out of Sunset Valley.
The family's founders were Nigel Plumb, formerly of Riverview and Yorkshire, England, and Jamie Jolina, a physician from Sunset Valley. The two could not have been more different.
While Nigel lived the quiet life of a farmer, Jamie was a party animal whose home was the center of culture in town, where heady discussions about everything from philosophy to art to music could be held.
The two met while both worked at Sacred Spleen Memorial Hospital. A one-night stand led to the birth of Nathan, their only son. Nigel was the father of Margaret, an older daughter from a previous relationship.
Margaret, Nigel's older daughter from a previous relationship, was an introspective, bookish loner who spent her life both reading and writing books. She became a noted writer of mostly speculative fiction.
From all accounts, Nathan was a musical prodigy. Even as a young boy he had perfect pitch, astonishing his babysitter as he perfectly replicated top-40 hits on his xylophone. He is said to have composed his first song before he started school, and throughout his lifetime built a catalog of over three hundred in number. He is also said to have composed at least one song for every important individual in his life. He quit high school after fallout from his rearrangement of the school song. As a young adult, he began his musical career in earnest, rising quickly up the ranks of the Sunset Valley orchestra.
Nathan had a reputation as something of a ladies' man, counting heiress Holly Alto among his conquests. Holly became pregnant with Nathan's son Noah just before she turned elder. Margaret, Nathan's half-sister, was furious over the relationship.
Nathan didn't become involved in Noah's upbringing until after the death of Noah's mother. Then, Nathan moved into the Alto mansion and discovered a young man who himself was out of control. He also possessed plenty of musical talent. Right after high school, Noah was fast-tracked into the orchestra, just like his father. Soon afterward, he married Sadie Alvi, his high school sweetheart, and produced his only child, Neil.
Neil had a checkered past and a troubled teen years. He would end up spending some time with his grandfather and his aunt (and Noah's half-sister) Savannah.
Soon after Savannah became a teenager, her younger brother Sebastian was born. The two could not have been more different temperamentally. While Savannah was intense and serious, Sebastian was laid back and something of a cutup. Despite the two's obvious differences, they were close growing up. Soon after high school, Sebastian left Sunset Valley to make a movie career in Bridgeport, and he was successful with that - until his love life made more headlines than his films.
The boy who eventually became Savannah's husband, Andy, had lusted after her ever since he and his adoptive mother moved into the Landgraab mansion next door to the Plumb estate after her brief marriage to Malcolm. On paper their union seemed like a big mismatch - he, an adoptee and she, an heiress by the time she reached her teens. The relationship started out inauspiciously, with her being assigned as his tutor and them referring to each other with insulting names. But, eventually, when Savannah went missing in Egypt, Andy realized he loved her. They eventually wed, and the rest, is history...
The wedding shocked Sunset Valley. And the couple wasn't done, either. Their first son, Andrew, Jr. (AJ) was born in short order after the wedding and their subsequent move to a cabin on Pinochle Pond in Sunset Valley. Following him were Sage, Sierra, Skylar and Sawyer.
As the family expanded, so did their needs, and eventually they left Sunset Valley for Hidden Springs, which was the birthplace of the youngest two children.
Meanwhile, after a string of failed relationships, Sebastian met Madison Avenue (nee Madison Westley) while on vacation in Hidden Springs. They fell madly in love. Sebastian sold his Bridgeport penthouse and moved to Starlight Shores to be with her.
The two had a tumultuous relationship, which resulted in their daughter, Kaydence. Madison's burgeoning success took a toll on their relationship, and their breakup was painful, resulting in a bitter and drawn-out court battle. After Sebastian won custody of Kaydence and lost a significant part of his personal fortune, he returned to his native Sunset Valley with her, while Madison returned to Starlight Shores, never to be a significant part of her daughter's life again.
Meanwhile, Savannah's children have developed into a cast of characters in their own right. There's AJ, who surprised his parents by joining the military right after leaving Fort Starch; the bohemian Sage, who leads a life of communion with nature; Sierra the athletic rebel whose adolescence was even wilder than her mother's; Skylar, an aspiring singer and musician; and young Sawyer. Her adopted daughter, Satis, is a medical intern. She and her boyfriend, Josh Davidson, had a son, Ramses.
Sebastian later married Cherise Hall in Sunlit Tides, in a quickie wedding.
